What is Okojo?
Okojo is a macOS app for reading Markdown, text, and CSV files.
Read-only use
Okojo is read-only. It does not edit or save changes to file contents.
Supported environment
Supported macOS versions will be published after confirmation.
Supported file types
Okojo is planned to support Markdown (.md, .markdown), text (.txt), and CSV (.csv) files.
2. Getting Started
Launch Okojo
After installing Okojo, open the app to start reading documents. Distribution details will be added when release preparation is complete.
Open your first file
Choose a supported file from Okojo or through macOS file actions.
Screen layout
Detailed screen layout notes will be added after the final app UI is confirmed.
File access permission
macOS may ask for permission depending on the file or location you open.
3. Opening Files
Open from Okojo
Open a supported file from Okojo. Exact button and menu labels will be added after confirmation.
Open from Finder
You can open supported files from Finder with Okojo.
Open With
Okojo may appear in macOS Open With for supported files.
Drag and drop to the Dock
You may be able to drag supported files onto Okojo in the Dock.
Drag and drop to Okojo
You may be able to drag supported files into the Okojo window.
Open multiple files
When multiple files are open, you can switch between them using tabs.
4. Using Tabs
Switch tabs
Select a document tab to switch the visible document.
Close a tab
Close a tab when you are done reading a document.
Close all tabs
The exact command name for closing all tabs will be added after confirmation.
Move through many tabs
Navigation behavior for many tabs will be added after final UI confirmation.
5. Reading Documents
Show the table of contents
Use Markdown headings to understand the document structure.
Jump to a heading
Select a heading from the table of contents to move to that section.
Search within a document
Search for words or phrases in the current document.
Change text size
Adjust the text size for comfortable reading.
Change theme
Choose a display theme that fits your environment.
Saved scroll position
Okojo saves the scroll position so you can resume reading more easily.
6. Recent Files
Open from history
Use recent file history to return to a document.
Moved or deleted files
If the original file was moved or deleted, open it again from its current location.
7. File Types
Markdown
Okojo can view Markdown files (.md, .markdown). Supported syntax details will be added after confirmation.
Text
Okojo can view text files (.txt).
CSV
Okojo can view CSV files (.csv). Display details will be added after confirmation.
Character encoding
If text appears garbled, the file encoding may be outside the supported range. Details will be added after confirmation.
Unsupported content and limitations
Support for images, HTML, and extended Markdown syntax will be documented after confirmation.

Can I edit documents in Okojo?
No. Okojo is read-only.
Will the original file change?
Okojo does not edit or save changes to the original file.
A file will not open
Check the file type, file location, and macOS access permission.
Text appears garbled
The file encoding may be outside the supported range.
Images do not appear
Image support details will be added after confirmation. External images may require a network connection.
Nothing appears when opening from Finder
Check that the file type is supported and that Okojo has access permission.
Drag and drop does not work
Check that the file is supported and that it is dropped onto the Okojo window or Dock icon.
The previous scroll position is not restored
Moving or deleting a file, or changing access permission, may prevent restoration.
